Career Placement Employer Partner

Career Placement offers a unique experiential learning opportunity where Seneca Polytechnic students and employers, like yourself, become invaluable assets to the aviation industry.

By partnering with Seneca, you have access to a pool of skilled and job-ready employees, who have received hands-on training at state-of-the-art facilities like our Flights Experiential Hub. This allows you to tap into a talent pipeline that can provide you with the skilled workers you need to stay competitive in the aviation industry.

Our Flights programs are designed to meet the educational and placement requirements set by industry standards. As such, it is mandatory for students to complete a minimum of 150 hours of field placement upon finishing their academic requirements.

Placement Host Guidelines

  • Our Career Placement program is offered every semester of the academic year with the following schedule:

  • Our Field Placement Team offers personalized support throughout the interview process, tailored to your specific requirements.

We assist in arranging interview schedules and coordinating pre-screening assessments. Whether you prefer to conduct interviews on campus or virtually, we have the resources and expertise to accommodate your needs.

  • Placement Insurance Forms will be provided to you by the student at the start of their placement. This form must be completed and signed by the employer.

Students have the responsibility to submit these signed forms to Seneca.

  • Students are required to complete a total of 150 hours for their field placement within the semester.

Work schedules can be flexible and completed within the semester at their discretion, subject to agreement with their supervisor. Hours for field placement must not interfere with the student's ability to attend other Seneca courses or programs.

  • Students must be supervised - directly or indirectly.

Indirect supervision can mean that the trainer does not have day-to-day, direct contact with the student during the field placement.

  • Regular attendance, punctuality and reliability are vital components of the field placement program.

Each student is required to work a full normal business day according to your policies. The student is required to maintain 100% attendance at the field placement organization.

Whether for valid medical or compassionate reasons or not, the student will be required to make up missed days/hours at your convenience.

The student is required to e-mail the Field Placement Coordinator before any absence.

  • Professional grooming is required and expected of the students. If you will require a uniform, students are expected to wear them neatly and professionally

  • The student is evaluated at the end of the placement period through your evaluation of the student’s performance and the student’s attendance record.

The field placement coordinator or professor will connect with you towards the end of the placement to provide you with the appropriate forms.

  • You can always contact the Field Placement Team for any questions

The program focuses on maintaining high industry and regulatory standards. And we create the perfect opportunity for students to polish their education with hands-on experience. As we say at Cathay Pacific: “It’s not how far you’ve come, it’s how far you’ll go.”

"WestJet prides itself on taking care of our employees, so they, in turn, take care of our guests.  We put safety first.  We want every employee to go home to their families the same way they arrived to work.  We take our work seriously but not ourselves.  We have fun at work.

This is what all Seneca Placement students will have the privilege of experiencing while completing their hours with us.

You will be part of an amazing team, who will support you throughout!  We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with all of our students, and if the opportunity arises for employment, we will always make job offers to our students who excelled throughout their placement!"

"Canada Jetlines utilized the Aviation Hub at the Newnham Campus of Seneca College for our first Flight Attendant Initial Training Program. Finding the appropriate facilities to enhance and support our training curriculum was critical to the success of our Flight Attendant Training Program. Facilities such as these are rare to find in Canada and allowed us and our training participants access to the training tools, we needed to be successful.  The Aviation Hub was in impeccable state on each visit and where we needed any adjustments our needs were welcomed and actioned immediately. The facilities allowed our training participants to learn in a hands-on environment creating very realistic and effective scenarios and allowed our instructors the proper environment and tools to deliver course material.

Congratulations Seneca on your outstanding work with the Aviation Hub.
